Spring Enrollment Up Over 8 Percent

Official, third week enrollment numbers for spring 2003 revealed continuing growth at Carroll Community College.

Total credit headcount increased 5.5 percent from spring 2002 to reach 2,545. Both full-time and part-time enrollments were up from a year ago. The average student load increased to 8.71 billable hours, up from 8.48 in spring 2002.

Full-time-equivalent (FTE) enrollment, used by the state for determining part of the college's funding, increased 8.6 percent. FTEs are based on the total student hours generated by student course enrollments. While headcount indicates the number of different individuals taking classes in a given time period, full-time-equivalents provide a better picture of total enrollment activity.
