Carroll Community College students Luke Fattorini and Jennifer Jackson chose Carroll because of the college’s programs and convenience. Thanks to proceeds raised at the Random House Book Fair, Fattorini and Jackson were able to pursue their academic dreams at Carroll.

Although the Book Fair, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, is open to the community at no charge, event book sales and corporate sponsorships support the college’s scholarship funds. Last year, over $30,000 was raised for the college’s Foundation, which distributes the scholarships.
Fattorini is a general business major enrolling as a freshman at Carroll this fall. He recently completed two college-level courses he took at Carroll while in high school. He received a scholarship to support his enrollment this fall.
“My scholarship provided the money I needed for tuition and books. It helped me very much financially,” said Fattorini.
He plans to transfer to a four-year college and study marketing after completing his studies at Carroll. He currently works at a local bank as a bank teller.

Jackson was also thrilled, because she received more than one scholarship, which covered all of her costs except for books. “I feel excited because my grades in high school were good enough to make me eligible for scholarships. I feel rewarded,” she said.
Jackson is studying radiography to become an x-ray technician at a hospital or local medical center. She currently works part-time as an aide to x-ray technicians.
Now, she says, she doesn’t need to work so many hours to pay for school. Thanks to her scholarship, school can be her first priority.
