College to Participate in First Maryland STEM Festival

Carroll Community College will participate in the first Maryland STEM Festival taking place at multiple locations throughout the state from November 6 through 15, 2015.

The Maryland STEM Festival offers fun, engaging and accessible topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through an array of events and activities. Without needing to travel great distances, the public may investigate all aspects of STEM through collaborative and interactive programming. The week is being organized by the Maryland STEM Festival Planning Committee, which consists of members from STEM organizations across the state.

On Nov. 6, Carroll Community College, in partnership with the Carroll County Public Schools, will host a STEM Professionals Panel, featuring top researchers in the STEM field who will talk with high school and college students, faculty, and staff. The speakers panel begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a question and answer session that concludes around 11:15 a.m. The presentation is open to the community and is free of charge.

On Nov. 7, the schedule begins at 9 a.m. in the college’s Great Hall with an opportunity to learn about STEM programs and courses at the college. Professor Wizard will present a science demonstration from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Both events are open to the community and free of charge.
