Miller Center for Small Business Key Partner in New Carroll Business Path

A new program to boost small business in Carroll County was announced by Commissioner Doug Howard at the Get Business Now seminar held January 6, 2012 at Carroll Community College.

Commissioner Howard announced the launch of this cooperative initiative titled the Carroll Business Path. This initiative brings together the players integral to business development in Carroll County in a unique partnership. Small business owners, entrepreneurs and those planning to start a business can now access information, counseling, referrals and educational programs at one location — Carroll Community College's Miller Center for Small Business.

Staff from the Miller Center, Carroll County Government, the Carroll County Department of Economic Development, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will team-up to direct clients to the business services they need. The Carroll Business Path is the one place an emerging business owner can get the answers needed to succeed. Services include business plan development, market analysis, investment capital sources, technology advice, workforce training, and management consulting.

"I am most pleased with the announcement of the Carroll Business Path…that will be one path for start-ups and existing businesses to access resources, take classes, get counseling and get their businesses going and growing," Howard said.

"I am looking forward to this unique and effective partnership on behalf of small businesses," said Carroll President Dr. Faye Pappalardo.

Carroll Vice President of Continuing Education and Training Karen Merkle said, "We are excited about combining the Miller Center's resources with other business development services available in the community, and working together in new ways to grow business in Carroll County."
