College Launches Aging Studies Program

Carroll Community College has launched a new Associate of Arts degree option in Aging Studies. Carroll is preparing students to transfer to university programs and to work in professions serving the growing population of aging individuals.

By completing this transfer pattern, Aging Studies students will be well-positioned to transfer to four-year institutions after gaining a foundation of knowledge in the field. By utilizing the online state articulation system, students can plan a course of study at Carroll that will transfer seamlessly by completing the first two years of a four-year degree.

"Students who wish to enter the elder care profession do not realize that the industry offers a spectrum of positions not limited to direct care. Areas such as customer service, banking, retirement services and travel all cater to the older adult population and offer great opportunities for jobs," said Dr. Michael Stovall, chair of Business and Social Sciences and faculty advisor.

Students interested in pursuing the Aging Studies transfer pattern may contact Stovall by calling 410-386-8206 or e-mailing mstovall@carrollcc.edu.
