President’s Column

Dr. Faye Pappalardo
President

On July 1, 2009, I celebrated my tenth anniversary as President of Carroll Community College.
I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to our students, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, and Carroll County community.

Faculty and staff,
I want to thank you for your dedication and commitment. Students, I want to thank you for entrusting us with your higher education. To the Board of Trustees, I wish to extend my warmest appreciation for such wonderful support.

I also wish to thank our community of donors, who make college affordable to the students who benefit from scholarships. Your continued generosity is greatly appreciated.

As I meet people in the community, I am sometimes asked how the economy is affecting charitable contributions to the college. I can wholeheartedly say that our donors continue to see the value of supporting student scholarships at a time when students are increasingly questioning if college is affordable for them. The need is great, yet we are confident that our donors will rise to the occasion.

Early reports indicate that we are seeing growth in enrollment of part-time students, many of whom need to keep working to pay for tuition, books, and fees while they attend college. Students like these are most grateful when they receive assistance from donors to our college Foundation.

I am especially pleased to note that 92 percent of our faculty and staff contributed to the annual campaign—evidence of wonderful goodwill on behalf of the students we serve.

Enjoy the summer!
