John Jayman Receives President’s Academic Excellence Award

Carroll Community College student John Richard Jayman received the President’s Academic Excellence Award at the college’s Commencement on May 29, 2013. The award includes a monetary scholarship.

The award recognizes a graduating student who has achieved a 4.0 grade point average, has earned at least 45 credits at Carroll, and has demonstrated a commitment to outstanding extracurricular activities and service to the community.

“John is an outstanding example of a student who is dedicated to his studies and who also finds time for activities outside the classroom. John is generous with his time when he is giving back to others in the community,” said College President Dr. Faye Pappalardo.

“I am honored to receive such a prestigious award,” said Jayman. “This award culminates all of efforts inside and outside of the classroom setting. Carroll has provided me with a strong foundation to succeed in all of my future studies.”

Jayman is a General Studies major who resides with his family in Westminster. His goal after graduating from Carroll is to transfer to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and eventually pursue a doctorate degree in Pharmacy. Jayman’s activities and accomplishments include serving as a peer tutor, participating in the STEM Club, and playing on the intramural football team. He volunteered at the International Fair Trade Market at SERVV in New Windsor. Jayman graduated as a Hill Scholar at the college.
