Student learning at Carroll Community College is encouraged by high-caliber teaching, a challenging curriculum, and effective support systems. Our dedicated faculty teach more than mastery of their disciplines. They instill confidence in students. They help students learn to think critically and hone their problem-solving skills. They provide the tools that lead students to success—both inside and outside of the classroom.
The stories in this issue illustrate success in different ways. The story on Adult Education includes poignant quotes from students starting their educational journeys. These students say that Carroll gave them a chance to learn a new language or prepare for a G.E.D.—and that turned their challenges into opportunities.
The story about Carroll’s new associate to bachelor’s agreements with three Maryland universities illustrates our commitment to helping students achieve success through advanced credentials. Starting this fall, Towson, Stevenson and Frostburg State will accept eligible Carroll nursing students to take classes concurrently to accelerate their bachelor’s degree attainment. Kudos to Dr. Nancy Perry and Dr. Jennifer Fritzges for their hard work in making this smooth transition possible.
Take a look at the photo of our students from the EMS Paramedic program. On June 29, nine students were recognized for completing the program and I was proud to address the students during the ceremony. Their success means that our emergency response community will have more trained personnel to ensure the safety and welfare of our citizens.
