Adam Atwell

Twenty-one-year-old Adam Atwell has a special fondness for Carroll Community College. He has been a student at the college since 2002.

“Having attended another institution first, I feel that Carroll has a personal touch that cannot be found anywhere but here. This is what makes Carroll such a great place to learn. The faculty here are always helpful and energetic. Their courses are well-planned,” said Atwell.

Atwell is currently completing his associate of arts degree in general studies. An ambitious young man, he is also pursuing an associate of applied science degree and is currently taking computer programming courses.

When asked why he chose to attend Carroll, he echoes the sentiments of many other students at the college. “I chose Carroll because it was convenient, close and affordable.”

Atwell finds that Carroll has so much more to offer than courses. Atwell has served as president and vice-president of the Student Government Organization. He is also a member of the Soccer Club and Information Technology Organization.

“Outside of school, I am very involved with the Westminster Church of the Brethren. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My hobbies include working on computers, playing guitar and video games,” he said.

What does the future hold for Atwell? “I have applied for a service position through my church and to UMBC to continue my education. Although I have not formally decided on a career, I am considering becoming a youth pastor, or entering business management or another technology-related area,” he said.

“My only real goal at this time is to live life to its fullest, be successful, and one day have a family of my own,” he said.
