College Introduces
Advantage C

Carroll Community College introduces Advantage C, a single source of expertise offering customized training and consulting services to help businesses grow stronger, respond to challenges and change in ways that sharpen their competitive edge. Specializing in training, consultation, facilitation, and assessment, Advantage C offers convenient, affordable solutions to local businesses.

In the past, the college has offered services to the business community through its business training and services unit. Rebranding as Advantage C emphasizes the college’s commitment to economic development in Carroll County, and elevates and expands these services to a new level of corporate training excellence.

The mission of Advantage C is to promote the success of county businesses and organizations. Clients receive access to a professional network of local, national and international experts and industry leaders. In addition, Advantage C offers business development and networking events that help business professionals get ahead. For instance, Advantage C offers free monthly PowerBrew webinars on the third Tuesday of every month from 9 to10 a.m., hosts the Evening Advantage speaker series, the annual TechStorm conference, and other conferences and events.

“Advantage C helps businesses build their employees’ skills and competencies”, said Karen Merkle, vice president for Continuing Education and Training. “The college offers highly-relevant corporate services, developed from best practices in training and development.”

“Our professional team works closely with each client, gaining an understanding of their unique challenges and then recommends and implements customized solutions,” added Libby Trostle, senior director of Corporate Services and Workforce Development for Advantage C.

President of Carroll Community College Dr. James D. Ball emphasized: “In today’s highly competitive environment, employees are the single most important asset for a company’s success. Therefore, attracting, inspiring, managing and developing employees is imperative.”

Industry observers point out that the time is right for the services that Advantage C provides. According to Carroll County Economic Development: “Carroll County’s central location in the state attracts a diversity of business interests. The business composition in the county includes a significant number of firms in manufacturing, transportation and health and business services sectors…Carroll County’s 4,450 businesses employ 48,300 workers and over 60 of these businesses have 100 or more workers.”
