Student Speaker Anna Cook to Address Graduates

A nna Cook, a Business Administration major and 2013 graduate, will address the class of 2013 as the student speaker on May 29. Cook is president of the Student Government Organization at Carroll.

“I plan to talk with fellow graduates about how Carroll has impacted my life and about what attending Carroll can do for our future,” said Cook.

“I want to talk to the students about taking initiative. I will encourage the graduates to find their place wherever they are going after Carroll and use what they have learned here. Be active, and don’t just stand by and watch. Get involved. Become the change you want to see. I will offer my personal background of how Carroll has changed my life and will challenge the graduates to be the best that they can be,” she said.

Cook said she chose to attend Carroll after her siblings came to the college and shared positive feedback with her. The affordability of the college and small college environment were also important to Cook.

When Cook reflects on her favorite things about the college, she said she will remember the excellent faculty and staff who helped her to grow and who guided her. “Attending Carroll gave me the confidence I needed.”

Cook plans to study Culinary Arts and Hospitality after graduating and said she would like to own her own bakery one day.
