On June 10, 2005, Barbara Charnock was elected Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of Community Colleges (MACC). Ms. Charnock will serve a one-year term, effective on her election date.
As a member of Carroll’s Board of Trustees, Ms. Charnock became eligible for the MACC position. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Carroll Community College since the first Board of Trustees was appointed in 1993. Earlier she served on the initial advisory boards and planning committees for the college.
“I am delighted that Ms. Charnock was chosen to provide leadership to an organization like MACC, which encourages the mission and growth of community colleges in Maryland,” said college president Dr. Faye Pappalardo.
MACC represents Maryland’s 16 community colleges, and provides research, advocacy, and education on behalf of its membership. MACC serves as liaison to the Maryland Higher Education Commission. The organization works with the General Assembly and other government officials to obtain adequate appropriations for community colleges. MACC also promotes the role of community colleges in providing job training in support of economic development.
