Recent Continuing Education Program Completers Recognized

The college’s annual Commencement ceremony brings much attention to the completers of the college’s associate degree and credit certificate programs. Equally worthy of recognition are the completers of the college’s Continuing Education and Training programs. Their accomplishments are usually celebrated at smaller ceremonies specific to each program.

The programs vary in duration, with some such as the Animal Control Academy as short as two weeks. At the other end of the continuum are the apprenticeship programs that span four years, including 2,000 hours of on-the-job training.

The programs are endorsed or approved by their respective associations. For example, the Veterinary Assistant program is approved by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA), the East Coast Animal Control Officers Academy is endorsed by The Humane Society of the United States, Medical Assistant completers are eligible for certification by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), and CNAs are eligible for certification by the Maryland Board of Nursing. For the apprenticeship programs, the college partners with the local affiliates of the Apprenticeship Council of Maryland.

The college offers over 30 Continuing Education Certificate programs. The table below shows a few examples, and includes the number of program completers in FY2015.
