By the time she was in her early thirties, Patricia Dasch was a wife and mother of three. She also had dreams of returning to college and becoming a nurse.
“I was so excited when I heard that Carroll was establishing a registered nursing program,” said Dasch. “This allowed me to stay close to home to study.”
Dasch took her classes in the college’s new Nursing and Allied Health Building. Many of her classmates were non-traditional students like herself, who after establishing other goals in life, returned to college for a new or second career in nursing.
Despite a hectic lifestyle, Dasch complemented her studies at Carroll over the past two years with clubs and activities. She served as nursing class president, was a student advocate in Annapolis, Md., and has been nominated to Who’s Who Among American Junior Colleges.
She is most proud of her service hours spent volunteering with 4H Therapeutic Riding. “It has been such a warm experience working with the handicapped children, as well as the horses.”
Dasch is sincerely grateful to Carroll for opening doors in her life. “Carroll has been wonderful to me. I cannot say enough good things about the college,” said Dasch, who will graduate with an Associate of Science degree in Nursing.
