Loretta Grieves Delivers Student Commencement Address

Loretta Grieves, a graduate from the Class of 2010, was the student speaker at Commencement. Grieves was an early childhood education major who plans to attend Stevenson University to obtain a bachelor's degree in teaching.

"I chose Carroll because the location and price were a perfect fit while I needed to be close to my children," said Grieves. "I chose to major in early childhood education because I was looking for a career change to better suit my family needs. In the process, I learned I had an undiscovered passion for teaching children."

Grieves said she was honored and proud to have been chosen among such accomplished students to be the student speaker. She told the graduates to "dream big, live life to the fullest, and enjoy every minute."

"I want to thank the Education department—Mrs. Sies, Mrs. Welch, Mrs. Moore, and the other faculty who have been the best cheerleaders for my success. To Mrs. Williamson, without you standing by my side, I would not be where I am today. Thank you all for inspiring me," said Grieves.
