President

The success of our efforts is a direct result of careful institutional planning and goal-setting. Our strategic initiatives reflect that effort. Two guiding elements of successful implementation of our strategic initiatives are continuity and collaboration.

Strategic initiatives are developed annually, with an eye towards building upon the accomplishments of the previous year and fine-tuning the tasks necessary to continue our momentum as a high-caliber institution of higher education. Continuous attention to our strategic priorities advances the college toward realization of it strategic vision.

Collaboration among faculty and staff is a vital ingredient to help make our goals a reality. The strategic initiatives serve as a guide, much like an architectural blue-print, that shapes our collective efforts to realize our mission and goals.

As president, I announce the college’s strategic initiatives for the coming fiscal year in June, following endorsement by the Board of Trustees. The initiatives and their associated tasks, listed under the appropriate Compass 2020 priorities, comprise the college’s annual Strategic Plan.

Monitoring our efforts and holding ourselves accountable to achieving results are also key components of advancing the mission of the college. Vice presidents or their designees provide status reports on Strategic Plan tasks mid-year and in late April. Strategic Initiative Coordinators make recommendations at the May meeting.

I look forward to learning more about the results of all of your efforts next spring. Thank you, as always, for your constant attention to the important work that you perform on behalf of our outstanding students.

Dr. James D. Ball
President
