College Signs Transfer Agreement with Hood College

On Monday, October 9th Carroll Community College and Hood College signed an agreement which gives eligible Carroll students guaranteed admissions to Hood, access to an academic success counselor and consideration for scholarships. The signing ceremony took place in Alumnae Hall at Hood College in Frederick, Md.

The agreement is effective for new students enrolling for the spring, 2018 semester and will be evaluated every two years. Students must complete their associate degrees before transferring. They may transfer a maximum of 62 credit hours from Carroll towards the 124 credit hours required for a bachelor’s degree at Hood. Carroll students must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher to qualify.

The enrollment agreement establishes expectations for administrators, faculty and staff at both institutions to work in a collaborative manner on behalf of Carroll students entering Hood.

“I am pleased to witness the culmination of this evolving agreement between Carroll and Hood,” said Carroll President Dr. James D. Ball. “Our students will certainly benefit from this seamless transition as they navigate the process from community college completion to studying at a four-year higher education institution.”

“We are excited to open this path to assist students at Carroll Community College with gaining a bachelor’s degree—and maybe more—at Hood College,” said Hood President Dr. Andrea E. Chapdelaine. “This agreement is an important step in making the enrollment process easier for students.”

Carroll Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr Rosalie V. Mince said, “Carroll has an excellent reputation as a community college that graduates students who excel upon transfer to a four-year institution. We are very happy to include Hood College as an institution that welcomes Carroll Community College graduates and works with students to help them achieve their long-term goals.”
