The colleges Technology Advisory Group (TAG),
appointed by the college-wide Planning Advisory Council to advise
the college on technology issues, has compiled a listing of recent
technology advances made at Carroll. During the past year and half,
the college:
- Purchased 300 Pentium III workstations for computer labs and
classrooms, in accord with its PC replacement schedule to maintain
hardware currency
- Created three additional smart classrooms with computer
projection systems
- Licensed with Blackboard, Inc. to provide remote server access
for online course software
- Provided over 45 online degree-credit courses through the Carroll-based
Blackboard environment or the Maryland Online consortium
- Provided 75 noncredit courses online through Ed2Go partnership
- Provided A+, MCSE, MOUS, and CIW professional certification
training through I/Tech partnership
- Launched a new and improved college website, with an easier
to use and remember URL
- Provided onsite and remote access to four additional online
research databases as well as access to the Maryland Digital Library
- Enhanced the iweb, the colleges intranet
- Installed a security firewall and selected e-commerce applications
- Installed a new Datatel Colleague server
- Published a revised Electronic Communications Policy
The college appreciates the efforts of its Information
Technology staff in keeping Carroll up-to-date and functioning in
this continuously evolving field.
