Adult Education Program Hosts Diploma Recognition Ceremony

Thirty-one students in the Adult Education program operated by Carroll Community College participated in a recognition ceremony on Oct.14, 2011 This was the fourth annual ceremony the college has organized for adults who have completed General Education Development (GED) and National External Diploma Programs (NEDP) to earn their high school diplomas.

"It is so special to have the opportunity to publicly recognize the achievements of our graduates at this event," said Becki Maurio, director of the Adult Education Program. "This celebration represents the culmination of the hard work and sacrifice of graduates in their commitment to making a better future for themselves and their families."

College President Dr. Faye Pappalardo and County Commissioner Haven Shoemaker delivered welcoming remarks. Dr. Craig Clagett, vice president for planning, marketing, and assessment at the college, presented the keynote address. Several students shared their journeys to the diploma. A reception in the Babylon Great Hall concluded the ceremony.
