Spring Credit Enrollment at All-time High

A total of 3,079 students were enrolled in credit classes as of the official Spring 2007 census date, a 7.7 percent increase from last spring. This is the highest spring credit enrollment in the college’s 14-year history. Enrollment of full-time students was up 12.4 percent, while part-timers increased 4.6 percent. Record retention rates from last fall contributed to the spring enrollment surge.

“The fact that the percentage of students continuing their studies at the college is at an all-time high speaks volumes about the outstanding education Carroll provides,” said college president Dr. Faye Pappalardo. “Students are choosing to stay at Carroll because of the excellent teaching by our faculty and the caring service provided by our staff.”

Full-time-equivalent (FTE) enrollment, used by the state for determining part of the college’s funding, increased 7.8 percent. FTEs are based on the total student hours generated by student course enrollments. While headcount indicates the number of different individuals taking classes in a given time period, full-time-equivalents provide a better picture of total enrollment activity.
