The college is embarking on a self-study reaccreditation process which takes place every ten years. It will prepare us for a visit by a team of higher education representatives appointed by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) during the spring of 2011. I have appointed a steering committee of our college faculty and staff who will implement the self-study process.

We will review our progress and accomplishments since the last time that we were reaccredited in 2001. The visiting team will evaluate our college and ascertain that we are following our mission effectively and efficiently in accordance with the l4 standards established by MSCHE. The l4 standards are printed in this issue of Today.

The self-study also enables the college to demonstrate that our dedicated faculty and staff work successfully to achieve our mission and goals. This process will result in reaccreditation for another ten years. It will assure all those served by Carroll that we continually strive for and achieve excellence in what we do. The community can have confidence that the college is an institution of higher education that is well-organized, well-staffed, and operates in accordance with its mission and goals.

Our entire institution is fully engaged in this enterprise. Seven workgroups comprised of faculty and staff will meet as necessary over the coming months. They will develop research questions, analyze data, and include results in chapters which will be submitted to the Steering Committee for inclusion in the self-study report. I want to thank co-chairs Dr. Michael Kiphart and Mr. Robert Brown for their stewardship.

The college holds itself to high standards academically and administratively in all of its endeavors. Self-study offers the opportunity for faculty and staff to take an introspective look at the college and how it can improve. I will keep you informed as the process unfolds through regular updates in future issues of Today.

I want to extend my personal appreciation to all involved in this college-wide effort that is both enlightening and fruitful.
