Register Now for Summer!Kids@Carroll

Parents of children ages three to thirteen are invited to explore both new and popular returning camps offered through Summer!Kids@Carroll at Carroll Community College. The college is now accepting registrations for over 100 half-day and full-day programs from June 15 through Aug. 14, 2009.

Summer!Kids@Carroll is a day camp licensed by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Summer fun blended with learning makes Summer!Kids@Carroll especially attractive to Carroll County families. New programs this year include Creative Cooking, Claymation Workshop, Duct Tape Art, Photoshop, Jump and Jive and Drum for Joy, Mad Science: Science in Motion, and LEGO® Robotics 2: Alternative Energy Bots.

In response to heightened interest in the environment, classes about the environment will explore recycling, alternative energy, and the Chesapeake Bay.

In response to the increased need for health care workers, Camp Scrubs will offer an in-depth look at the nursing profession with hands-on activities, in partnership with the college nursing program. The program is designed to interest boys in this mostly female occupation.

Camps returning by popular demand, many with new activities, include American Girl Camp, Art Attack, LEGO® Robotics 1, Creative Expressions, Math Games, Super Science: CSI, A Week at Hogwarts: Harry Potter and Friends, Count Down to Flight, and Creative Dramatics: Theater FUN-damentals.

The weekly Kids for Peace Program returns, fostering appreciation of the many peoples and cultures comprising our diverse planet.

Parents can register their children for any combination of classes and are not required to enroll for the entire summer or for a whole day. Half-day programs run from 9 a.m. to 12 noon or from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Full-day programs include a supervised lunch period. Start-up and wind-down programs are available to accommodate parental work schedules.
