Kristie Crumley Joins Math Faculty
Kristie Crumley

Kristie Crumley has joined the faculty of Carroll Community College as a full-time mathematics instructor. In the fall, she'll be teaching Introduction to College Mathematics, Calculus I, and Concepts of Math for Elementary Teachers II.

Ms. Crumley was inspired by her high school teachers to pursue a career as a teacher of mathematics. She enrolled at American University in Washington, D.C., and earned a B.S. in Mathematics. After graduating, Ms. Crumley taught mathematics at Damascus High School. After earning a M.S. in Education at Western Maryland College, Ms. Crumley became a math lab instructor at Carroll Community College and a member of the adjunct faculty.

She is most excited about the course she teaches for elementary school teachers. Over the summer, she is trying to refine this course so that her students will take delight in the learning and teaching of mathematics. To help accomplish this, she hopes to emulate the teaching methods of the instructors that inspired her in the past.

"Teaching is an investment in the community," said Ms. Crumley. "I often see my former students working in the community or hear that they are employed as teachers. I take pride in the fact that I helped to provide them with a solid foundation so that they can perform their jobs well."
