Danielle Snyder Receives President’s Award for Academic Excellences

For the fifth consecutive year, one student from the graduating class has been selected to receive a special award from the president of the college—the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. The amount of the award, provided by Dr. Faye Pappalardo, is $500 and is intended as a scholarship for further study after Carroll. The student who is selected must have demonstrated outstanding academic performance with a 4.0 grade point average and completed at least 45 credits at Carroll. This year’s recipient is Danielle Snyder.

Snyder, a Westminster resident, graduated in May with an Associate of Arts degree in Arts and Sciences. She plans to transfer and has been accepted at two colleges. Snyder plans to study international relations and public health. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she plans to attend law school to study international human rights law.

While at Carroll, Snyder was president of Phi Theta Kappa, a member of the Peace Club, a Student Ambassador, and a participant in the college’s Integrity Council. Off-campus, she served as a hospice volunteer in the community.

Snyder, a wife and mother of three-year old twins, co-owns a business with her mother, called Gear While You’re Here. The company provides rental furniture and equipment for families who are traveling with children throughout central Maryland, Washington, D.C., southern Pennsylvania, and northern Virginia.

“I chose Carroll as my place of study because it was an affordable, sensible option,” said Snyder. “Carroll offered me small classes, teachers whose priority is to see students succeed, and challenging classes with an honors component.”

Dr. Faye Pappalardo said she is pleased to recognize a student as accomplished as Snyder. “I met Danielle at the college’s Advocacy Day in Annapolis this year,” said Dr. Pappalardo. “I was impressed that she is a mom and still found time to come to Carroll to be an excellent student. I am delighted she has received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence.”
