It may seem to you as it does to me that summer at Carroll gets shorter with every passing year. Perhaps that is due to our extremely busy summer activity schedule…

While hundreds of students attended credit and non-credit classes, nearly 1,800 campers enjoyed our SummerKids@Carroll+Teen College. These camps offer activities for youth and teens ranging from Clown Camp to Robotics. I thank the many staff and volunteers who helped make our summer programs a tremendous success.

Highlighted in this Today is the pinning ceremony of the Practical Nursing graduates. On August 15th the EMS program will celebrate its latest graduates. I extend my sincere congratulations to the EMS and Practical Nursing graduates and wish them success on their pending licensure exams!

Also in this edition, we cover the August 5th celebration of the life of Patrick Kisicki with a day-long music festival. Event proceeds provide scholarships for music students. I am grateful to all involved in making the event happen.

Summer saw the retirement of several esteemed colleagues. Since June 2017, supervisors, search committees and the HR staff have been very busy, hiring over 20 new employees. I offer a warm welcome to our new staff! And, for their benefit, in this edition we highlight the Planning Advisory Council (PAC). Employees are welcomed to attend PAC meetings to learn more about the priorities and activities of the College.

Lastly, following College tradition, we kick off the new academic year with two events on August 24th: the fall College-wide meeting of all employees, 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Theater; and, the College-wide picnic, 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. in the Cafe. I look forward to seeing all faculty and staff at these celebrations.
