Demishkevich and Pelton Complete Leadership Carroll

Maya Demishkevich and Karen Pelton graduated from the Leadership Carroll program at a ceremony on June 13 at Martin’s Westminster. Demishkevich is senior director of Marketing and Pelton is assistant director of Institutional Advancement at the college.

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Carroll Community College co-sponsor Leadership Carroll, a popular and respected selective leadership development program in Carroll County. Demishkevich and Pelton are among more than 40 graduates from the 2017 program, representing education, retail, government, media, health, law, banking, non- profit and corporate organizations. This year’s program started on September 19, 2016 and ended June 13, 2017.

“This program provided an excellent introduction to the county’s resources as well as to the current challenges present throughout different economic sectors,” said Demishkevich. “Additionally, through this year-long experience, I’ve gained a better understanding of the audience which Carroll Community College serves. I have also identified training gaps and opportunities to improve our community outreach.”

“The Leadership Carroll program awakened me to the multitude of resources available in the community,” said Pelton. “From the local farms to the high-quality health care services and business operations we toured, each have a tremendous impact on the quality of life for county residents. I highly recommend that others in the community explore participating in the program.”

Areas of focus throughout the year-long program included education, state and local government, agriculture, business and economic development, justice and the law, and the media.
