The year 2012 offers new opportunities, challenges and achievements. I am filled with anticipation about the great things students, faculty and staff will accomplish as we embark upon the spring semester.

This spring I will lead the college in development of our next strategic plan, Compass 2015. This three-year plan will guide the college's efforts during FY2013-FY2015.

The 14th Annual Random House Book Fair will be held on Saturday, March 3. Please join us as we celebrate reading with visitors of all ages who come to the college from around the region. Random House, our primary sponsor of the event, deserves special acknowledgement for all they do to make the day a success. I also want to thank all of our sponsors for their important contributions.

Commencement will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at 3 p.m. This day is the culmination of the hard work and dedication of our students. I look forward to presiding over this recognition of our fine graduates.

This fall will see the opening of the Mt. Airy College Center for Health Care Education, a collaboration among Carroll, Frederick, and Howard Community Colleges. The Center will provide high-demand health care degree programs, continuing professional education, and industry certification training.

I wish all a happy New Year and much success in all that you do.

Dr. Faye Pappalardo
President
