Carroll Community College graduate Caitlin McNamara, an education major, has been selected to a special advisory council to represent student needs and concerns before the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
McNamara is part of a group of five students appointed to the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, which reviews issues of importance to high school, community college, and university students.
College President Dr. Faye Pappalardo said, "I am proud of Caitlin for this accomplishment. I believe that she will represent the concerns of students well."
Director of Student Life Kristie Crumley said, "We are proud that Caitlin represents students in this important capacity. She understands the issues and challenges which students face."
McNamara said, "It is a great honor to be selected as a member of this council. I feel so privileged to work with other students from the state, individuals from the Governor's office, and Senate representatives to discuss, and hopefully begin to solve, some big issues concerning youth in Maryland."
McNamara, who resides in Hampstead, graduated in December. She was president of the Student Government Organization and a student worker at
the college.
