Carroll Graduate Accepted into Competitive Johns Hopkins Program

Bob Gorsuch was very excited to graduate from Carroll Community College this May. This is because he had been accepted into a prestigious program at the Johns Hopkins School of Medical Imaging—Nuclear Medicine Technology. Gorsuch was one of only seven applicants accepted into the program this year.

Although his enthusiasm for the next chapter in his life is contagious, his gratitude for the help his Carroll instructors provided him is inspirational.

"All of my instructors helped to prepare me," said Gorsuch. "Mike Dixon, my speech class instructor, gave me great information on how to handle an interview properly. Dr. Raza Khan, my chemistry instructor, provided me with effective learning and studying techniques. Joann Pilachowski, my English instructor, helped me to improve my writing skills tremendously," said Gorsuch. "In addition, Barbara Gregory in the Career Development Center provided guidance about applications and personal branding."

Workshops at Carroll on writing university essays and the Carroll transfer fairs were other opportunities in which Gorsuch participated.

The Manchester resident credits Carroll with his success. His humility about his own skills and abilities is evident when Gorsuch speaks of his Carroll experience.

Gorsuch has started the 18-month program at Hopkins in June. The first 14 months include training for nuclear medicine technology, and the last four months are training for computed tomography. At the completion of the program, he will be eligible for certification in both modalities and employment as a nuclear medicine technologist.
