When I consider all of the great work that faculty and staff accomplish each and every day, one word comes to mind: recognition. I extend my appreciation for all that our employees do for our students and to keep our campus running smoothly. That effort is nothing short of excellent and worthy of continuing recognition.

It is especially rewarding when the college receives recognition locally, regionally and nationally. This issue of Today celebrates several noteworthy college achievements.

For example, the story on the Farm Theater Project illustrates how the reputation of our college can yield new opportunities for our students. As you will read, the relationship Carroll has with the Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival resulted in national attention from the Farm Theater Project, a collaborator with Kennedy. The Project involves Carroll and two other community colleges, which will work with a playwright to write and produce an original play.

Statewide recognition features the invitation to participate in the Maryland STEM Festival, held in November. Professional speakers from around the state presented to high school and college students at a special panel held at Carroll. Such recognition of the talent and potential of students serves as an assurance that the future of STEM is strong at the college.

Finally, the story on the recognition of our Health, Fitness and Exercise Science department by the League for Innovation in the Community College applauds the winning innovation demonstrated by the college Well-MART, which serves as a wellness promotion through active learning.

In closing, I wish you a successful conclusion to the fall semester and a rejuvenating holiday season ahead.
