Marvin Hamlisch Performs at “Starry Night”

"Starry Night,” Carroll County’s upscale holiday benefit event for the college, featured composer Marvin Hamlisch in the Theater in the Scott Center on Sunday, December 9, 2007. Guests shared an intimate theater experience with the nationally-recognized musical artist, whose reputation as a delightful entertainer with a sense of humor was evident that special evening.

For many, songs by Marvin Hamlisch play in the soundtrack of our lives. Familiar works included “The Way We Were”, the Broadway musical “A Chorus Line”, and the soundtrack from “The Sting”.

Proceeds from the event benefited the college’s Partners’ Campaign. The campaign raises funds for student scholarships, nursing and allied health equipment, library and learning resources, and instructional technology.

Guests enjoyed a reception featuring hors d’oeuvres before the performance, with coffee and dessert afterwards.

College president Dr. Faye Pappalardo joins Marvin Hamlisch on stage at the conclusion of his
Starry Night performance.
