College Sponsors Global Issues Fair

Issues of global proportions were the focus of the first Global Issues Fair on Wednesday, November 7 in the Great Hall of Carroll Community College. Exhibitors demonstrated how they address global issues of concern, including activism, conscious consumerism, ecology, and social justice. Non-profit organizations from around the region participated in answering questions, disseminating information, and in general, raising public awareness of issues that touch every community around the world.

“Students who spent time conversing with exhibitors received a special gift: “The Better World Handbook” or “The Green Book”, so that they continue thoughtful conversations with others,” said Michele Lenhart, director of Co-Curricular and First Year Programs at the college

About 15 exhibitors participated in the event.

Troy Pfister, a 2005 graduate of Carroll and a 2007 graduate of McDaniel College, participated in the event as an exhibitor. Pfister is program administrator at Equadent Foundation. Equadent is a non-profit organization built on the talent of dedicated volunteers. These healthcare professionals from all over the U.S. travel to impoverished villages of Ecuador delivering free medical and dental care to children in need.
