The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival invited Carroll Community College to present its production of “Our Town” at its annual regional gathering of over 1,000 theatre students from community and four-year colleges. The festival was held in West Chester, Pa. from January 14 to 18, 2014.
Carroll was chosen from among dozens of colleges from Maryland, Pennsylvania, D.C., West Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, Northern Virginia and New York. Over the past ten years, only three other community college productions have been presented at the festival.
First appearing on Broadway in 1938, “Our Town” is a classic tale about life and love in the village of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. The production has become an American tradition with universal appeal.
“I am exceedingly proud of our theatre department that makes Carroll a cultural destination for the performing arts,” said Carroll President Dr. Faye Pappalardo.
“It was wonderful to be recognized on a regional level among our higher education peers for the outstanding talents of our students,” said Chair of Performing Arts William Gillett.
