As we celebrate Commencement,
I reflect on the numerous achievements of our faculty, staff and students during the academic year. I am especially grateful that our students work hard, and show much initiative and perseverance as they pursue their dreams. Our students’ efforts culminate in one of their finest moments as they take the walk across the stage to receive their diplomas.

I am indeed proud of all of the graduates of the Class of 2008. They have accomplished their goals by receiving associate degrees and certificates. I truly embrace witnessing their successful journey while at Carroll and I look forward to hearing about great things from this class.

Over the past year, I have enjoyed meeting with students from the class of 2008, hearing from instructors, and watching many students share time and talents with the college and the greater community. Some graduates will continue to further their educations, pursuing bachelor’s degrees and graduate work. Others will directly enter the workforce, ready to assume the responsibilities that await them.

In this special Commencement issue of Today, there are stories about virtually every aspect of graduation. Articles about the student speaker, another student who was named Regional Cadet of the Year by the Civil Air Patrol, and the nursing pinning ceremony are some of the highlights found in this issue.

I applaud the Class of 2008, and wish our graduates everything that is good and beautiful in life. I sincerely hope that they keep in touch with their classmates and instructors as they join the ranks of Carroll alumni, and know that this is their college. Our doors are always open to them. Again, I wish them only the best that life has to offer and that they will always take “the road less traveled”.
