12th Annual Random House Book Fair to be Held March 7

The 12th Annual Random House Book Fair will take place at Carroll Community College on Saturday, March 7, 2009. A kick-off will be held the evening before on Friday, March 6, with poetry readings and showings of the movie, Bolt.

Patrons of the event will have the opportunity to purchase books at a discount, participate in the silent auction, and meet and interact with Random House guest authors, as well as many local authors. Children may enjoy story time and children’s courtyard activities, celebrate winners in the student writing contest, as well as participate in book giveaways.

“On behalf of Random House, we are proud to provide continuing support of this wonderful event. I would also like to give special thanks to our many sponsors who help to make this event a huge success,” said Annette Danek-Akey, 2009 Random House Book Fair chairperson and vice president of Fulfillment at Random House.

The Random House Book Fair was created in 1997 through a partnership of the Carroll Community College Foundation and Random House. It is a fundraising event that strives to raise awareness of the importance of reading, literacy, and learning. In its twelfth year, the Random House Book Fair has become a signature event for the college, attracting over 3,000 people each year. Proceeds support student scholarships at the college.
