College Offers Travel Study to Paris
Get Ready with a Course in French

Next spring, Carroll Community College will offer travel and study in Paris, France. The trip is open to faculty, staff, students and the community for a package rate. The rate includes roundtrip airfare from D.C., hotels, daily breakfast, two dinners, a bus tour, a guided tour of the Palace of Versailles, sightseeing and admission fees, an optional fashion show, taxes, tips and travel insurance. The total cost is $2,994 for the experience starting on March 26 and culminating on April 3, 2015. The deposit for the trip is due November 1, 2014, according to trip coordinators Dr. David Fell and Dr. Siobhan Wright.

Participants may want to take the opportunity to learn some “travel” French or brush up on their skills prior to the trip. Carroll offers a three-credit elementary French course this fall, taught by Rachael Wentz. The course will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.

“If you are travelling to Paris, it would be very beneficial to understand some survival vocabulary in French,” said Wentz. “From my experiences, the French people are delighted if you attempt to speak their language. It is also a challenge to use the language. The French 101 class offers an opportunity to speak and to study some French culture.”

“Visuals will be used in the course to acquaint the students with the many monuments and historical places in this beautiful city,” said Wentz. “A study in French will make any trip to the country that much more meaningful.”
