U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, met with members of the Maryland Council of Community College Presidents to discuss her fight to ensure access to quality, affordable higher education for Maryland’s college students. The discussion came as part of the Maryland Association of Community Colleges’ annual retreat in August.
“I am so proud to represent Maryland and the people of the educational mosaic that’s in our great state,” said Mikulski, a member of the Senate Community College Caucus. “Education is the opportunity ladder of this nation. As a former community college teacher, I know first-hand how important our community colleges are to the 500,000 Maryland students enrolled and getting a first-class education, preparing for jobs tomorrow. It’s my job to help Maryland’s colleges and universities do what they’re best at—educating our next generation. I will continue fighting to ensure that Maryland students have access to quality, affordable higher education.”
