This past fall, Carroll Community College welcomed students from Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant programs around the state for a conference called the Maryland Regional Student Conclave. Participants gathered to learn and to network with fellow students, and with others in the field. The conference was sponsored by APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) of Maryland.
Participants attended lectures, learned how to become involved in APTA, and met recruiters. Sessions included working with other professionals, specialized areas of Physical Therapy, and women’s health. The conclave also included an exhibit hall that provided students with an opportunity to interact with vendors, discussing employment opportunities, and see new products and equipment.
“The Maryland Regional Student Conclave was a major networking experience that helped students to prepare for the working climate in a clinic, which involves teamwork between Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. The experience was designed to benefit students throughout their educational and vocational careers,” said Director of the Carroll Physical Therapist Assistant Program Sharon Reid. “The student conclave offered a unique and creative outlet to stimulate and challenge students outside of the classroom.”
