Carroll Participates in Regional Theatre Festival for Second Consecutive Year

Theatre students from Carroll Community College were invited for the second year in a row to participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival from January 2 to 6, 2015. The event, held in Cleveland, included students from community colleges and four-year colleges and universities in the D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, northwestern New York, and West Virginia region.

Students performed for audiences of students and college faculty and staff. Carroll remounted its fall production of the “Last Days of Judas Iscariot” before an audience of about 800. “This is the first time a community college has been invited to the festival two years in a row,” said Carroll Chair of Performing Arts Bill Gillett.

“Our experience was excellent and everything went fantastically,” he said. “Our students participated thoroughly, learned a lot and had a great time. Our production received an immediate standing ovation from the audience.”

For the second year in a row, Carroll students received the Golden Hand Truck Award, which is given to the college that staged its production with the smoothest and safest load in and load out of materials and stage sets.
