Penguin Random House Book Fair Saturday March 7

Carroll Community College will host the 18th Annual Penguin Random House Book Fair on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Additional events will be held at the college on Friday March 6 to kick off the Book Fair.

The fundraising event was created in 1997 through a partnership of the Carroll Community College Foundation and Random House, Inc. to raise awareness of the importance of reading, literacy, and learning. In its eighteenth year, the Annual Penguin Random House Book Fair is a signature event for the college that attracts over 4,000 people each year. All proceeds from the event directly support student scholarships at Carroll. The event has raised over $400,000 since its inception.

Activities include new book sales that are discounted 20%; author book talks and signings; a silent auction; student writing contest; children's story time; free children's books (while supplies last); kid's activity areas; and much more.

Authors making book presentations and signing books include Sally Lloyd Jones, author of “The House That’s Your Home”, a children’s picture book, and Kate Alcott, who will discuss her latest historical novel “A Touch of Stardust.”

From 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, the college will hold a “senior adult afternoon” with discounted book sales, workshops and exhibitors. The March 6 movie night will feature showings at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. of the Disney movie “Big Hero 6.” Tickets will go on sale at 4 p.m. in the Theater in the Scott Center.
