Chemistry professor Dr. Raza Khan has been named one of “Forty-five Inspiring Men” by the web-based Platform Magazine. Magazine editor Judy Stavely said that “Raza does a lot for the students at the college and is the only faculty member who received the distinction. He was chosen by a team of judges who received nominations about individuals who have made a difference in the community.”
Khan has been a developer of several student initiatives outside the classroom, including the annual STEM Day at Shiloh Middle School. He is the founder and co-advisor of the STEM Club. He was instrumental in developing and implementing the SMART Scholars Undergraduate Research Program.
“His students display exemplary educational prowess as evidenced by how well they perform on the ACS (American Chemical Society) exam and what they share with him after having transferred to and graduated from four-year higher educational institutions,” said Maria Burness, chair of the Department of Mathematics and Engineering and a faculty advisor to the STEM Club. “He is truly a professor who makes a lasting impression upon his students.”
