President

Without question, I believe that Carroll Community College has one of the finest faculties in the region. I believe that one reason for the high caliber of instruction at Carroll is our support of new developments in the teaching and learning process.

The college's online math and chemistry tutorial communities were created so that experienced students can mentor other students who are studying these challenging subjects for the first time. Participation in the program has steadily increased. This spring, qualified students are participating in new undergraduate research courses in chemistry and engineering.

Carroll's reputation extends beyond our county and state. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. James Ball was selected by the National Council of Instructional Administrators as a regional winner for their Instructional Leadership Award. Dr. Ball, who is vice president of Academic and Student Affairs, is an unwavering advocate for students and supporter of faculty initiatives to support their learning.

Faculty and staff accomplishments are possible, in part, through a clear governing mission and vision. I am pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has approved a new mission statement for the college. I want to thank the members of the Mission Review Committee, chaired by Drs. Craig Clagett and Janet Ohlemacher, for developing recommendations for the revised mission statement.

Dr. Faye Pappalardo
President
