A record 3,441 students were enrolled in credit classes as of the official Fall 2007 census date, a 7.0 percent increase from last fall. Fall headcount has increased for eight consecutive years to reach this fall’s record high. Enrollment of full-time students was up 12.4 percent, while part-timers increased 2.6 percent.
Full-time-equivalent (FTE) enrollment, used by the state for determining part of the college’s funding, increased 8.9 percent to exceed 1,000 for the first time. FTEs are based on the total student hours generated by student course enrollments. While headcount indicates the number of different individuals taking classes in a given time period, full-time-equivalents provide a better picture of total enrollment activity.
