The Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program has selected Carroll student Zachary Bowen as a scholarship recipient in recognition of his commitment to academics and the community. Bowen is among 400 recipients nationwide who have been recognized by the program this year. He received a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
On Aug. 28, 2007, College President Dr. Faye Pappalardo presented Bowen with a certificate to acknowledge his achievement.
Bowen, a Finksburg resident, has attended Carroll since spring, 2005. He has two majors, Criminal Justice and Legal Studies. “I was pleasantly surprised when I received the news,” said Bowen. “This scholarship will provide the necessary financial assistance to allow me to complete my studies at Carroll.”
“I am delighted that Zachary has received this national recognition,” said Dr. Pappalardo. “Zachary exemplifies the high caliber of students who excel in their studies at Carroll. I extend my deepest congratulations to him.”
“The Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program offers support and encouragement,” said J. Mark Davis, president of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. “This program is an extension of our long-standing commitment to college education throughout the United States.”
Carroll nominated Bowen for the national award. Criteria for selection included time devoted to community service or employment, along with academic success measured by the student’s grade point average.
